Fundraising
Fundraising Options for 2012
Fundraising may begin as soon as you become a part of the Athletes For Adoption running team. After joining the team you may create a personal fundraising page that you can email to potential donors that allows them to donate online. The page will keep track of your progress and automatically send the money directly to GGAM as well as send a receipt directly to the donor.
Ask your friends, family and coworkers to donate by emailing the link to your personal fundraising page.
The deadline to meet your fundraising goal and receive incentive items is November 10th, 2012.
Would your children like to participate? There is a 3K “Just Run” kids event that will be held on Saturday Nov, 17th (the day before the half marathon). Children can have their own personal fundraising page and can set a goal of $300 for the 3K. See the AFA Kid’s Team page for more information.
Instructions For Setting Up Your Fundraising Page At Firstgiving.com
1. Go to: http://www.firstgiving.com/npo/11063
2. Click on the blue “Raise Money” tab on lower left of the page.
3. On the next page under “Sporting” click on “Select”:
What sort of event are you doing? Select “Running”
When is it? November 17th or 18th, 2012
4. The next page is “About Your Event”. If your event isn’t in their list of events, enter “Big Sur Half Marathon” in the “Can’t Find Your Event” box and then continue.
5. The rest of the set up is pretty self explanatory. If you have any questions contact me at: lthompson@ggam.org.
6. After your page is set up you can customize it however you like and start emailing it to your friends.
This specific fundraiser has a non-profit type account set up with Firstgiving.com. By following the steps above, it automatically enters each individual into the God’s Grace Adoption Ministry account and will allow us to see individual fundraising efforts as well as a total amount raised through Firstgiving.com.
Would you rather do some or all of your donations without using the online fundraising page?
It’s perfectly acceptable to do it this way and for some people this may be more effective.
